Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 | IE 9 Performance

With Internet Explorer 8 Microsoft increased the number of simultaneous downloads. With IE9 this value returned to two.

But you can speed up your CRM just by setting these two registry keys:

MaxConnectionsPerServer

MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server

  • Navigate to the following location: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings
  • Right-Click Internet Settings select New then click DWORD (32-bit) Value.
  • Name this value MaxConnectionsPerServer and set its value to 4.
  • Right-Click Internet Settings select New then click DWORD (32-bit) Value.
  • Name this value MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server and set its value to 6.

You can set both of these to as many as you want, to revert just remove these two keys.

These settings work for CRM 4.0 Users too. IE7 or IE8 users should take a look at kb-article

  1. Is there any influence on speed by using IE 7, IE 8 or IE 9? We actually suffer pretty hard by using IE 7 (waiting on an account for about 20-30 seconds). Do you got some advises how to perform better with IE 7? We act with windows xp, so IE 9 won’t work😦 greetings

    • There’s a performance step between IE7,8 and 9. If you can’t step up to IE8 try to edit the registry. But remember this is on your own risk.
      Click Run | Regedit.
      Navigate to hkeycurrentuser\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\internetsettings.
Add new DWORD MaxConnectionPerServer with Decimal value of 10.
Add new DWORD MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server with Decimal value of 10.
      Close Regedit.

      • They are already existing (Value both 16). Put them on 10, but it ain’t better. Well, I guess we have to wait till our IT will install IE8 finally. Best regards.
